Our roots
Born in the city of the Big Temple.
Thanjavur has been a city of healers for centuries. In the early nineteenth century the Maratha king Serfoji II kept a house of medicine here, the Dhanvantari Mahal, where physicians prepared remedies and recorded the care of every patient. Manuscripts from that age still rest in the Saraswathi Mahal Library, a few streets from our stores.
